Successful educator İlknur Şemi, who has been working at many levels in the field of education for 36 years, was appointed as the Director of Near East Yeniboğaziçi College. Near East Yeniboğaziçi College provides education to raise future generations with its innovative education model, technological infrastructure and strong teaching staff.

İlknur Şemi, an experienced and successful educator with 36 years of experience, says she is very happy to combine her knowledge and experience with the world-class facilities and experience of Near East College. İlknur Şemi, who said that one of her most important priorities as Near East Yeniboğaziçi College is providing foreign language education opportunities, stated that Near East Yeniboğaziçi College offers important opportunities to its students as a Cambridge and EDEXCEL exam center. Near East Yeniboğaziçi College offers 18 different course options in the IGCSE exams. It also prepares its students for world-renowned exams such as IELTS, SAT and TOEFL.

İlknur Şemi, who stated that they prepare their students for IGCSE and A-Level exams with great care starting from middle school, pointed out that for this purpose, they apply the ILS (International Lower Secondary) computer exam curriculum of the International Cambridge Exam Center and the science and mathematics curriculum of the Pearson-Edexcel exam centers.

Emphasizing the importance of getting to know the students well and guiding them correctly in order to achieve success, Şemi said, “With the NECSIS system we use, we can get to know the students better and guide them in an accurate way. In addition, we also prepare student-specific programs to identify the missing points and eliminate them. With the NECSIS system, we regularly inform parents about the academic status of the student, and we also provide school and family cooperation to achieve success.”

İlknur Şemi said that in addition to foreign language and academic development, they offer important opportunities to develop students socially, culturally and sportively. Şemi said, “While students spend quality time at the sports halls, art workshops, music-orchestra workshop, painting, dance rooms and educational park on our campus, they also learn to socialize through the activities they attend individually or as a group.”


Who is İlknur Şemi
Born in Limassol in 1961, İlknur Şemi completed her primary education in Limassol and her secondary education at Anafartalar High School in 1979. She graduated from Boğaziçi University, Department of Chemical Engineering in 1985 and was appointed as a Chemistry – Science Teacher at Nicosia Turkish Maarif College in the same year. Between 1987 and 2007, she worked as a teacher, assistant principal and deputy principal at Famagusta Turkish Maarif College. At the same time, she completed her Secondary Education Field Teaching Master’s programs at the Department of Chemistry and Educational Sciences of Eastern Mediterranean University. After working at Dipkarpaz Secondary School, Beyarmudu Secondary School and Iskele Commercial High School between 2007 and 2009, she was appointed as the director of Namık Kemal High School in 2009 and worked there for 10 years. İlknur Şemi, who was appointed as the director of Famagusta Turkish Maarif College in 2019, retired in July 2021. İlknur Şemi, who has served at all levels of education for 36 years, has many achievements and awards.
